Editing Issues with Eberus

Reviews are beginning to roll in for Nightmares From Eberus. It's an exciting time for an author as you get to see what readers think of your work.

While many reviews have been positive and a few have been negative, one of the most disturbing things I've seen this far is are comments that the book was poorly edited.

After seeing so many reviews mention the issue, I went back and looked at the finished product and was shocked by the errors that remain in the work.

My publishing company paid good money to have the book edited professionally and when the final work was completed, we assumed that it was completed properly.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. We're pursuing the issue with the editors but as it stands right now, that's not the type of product we want to be putting out.

With that in mind, we'll be pushing the print release of Eberus to the middle of October as we contract another Editor to fix the issues that have been identified.

I want to personally apologize to fans and readers, it was never my intention to provide you a subpar product.

I'm thoroughly embarrassed and will make sure this problem is correctly quickly.

If you'd like a new copy of the book once the edits are completed, you'll be able to download the new copy from Smashwords as soon as it is available.

Keep an eye on this site and we'll let you know when the good copy is available.

Again, my most sincere apologies for this oversight. We'll make this right.

Stay thirsty for Spec Fic, my friends.

Eberus, Ancient Rising, Pewter Report, E-books and More

Hey Folks,

Well we're definitely having some exciting times around the De La Torre palacial estate.

First and most exciting, Nighmares From Eberus reached #2 on the Smashwords best seller list for the August 8th-15th. While it was a short lived spot (it fell off the charts the next week), it was exciting to see Eberus exceed all the other books in Smashword sales.  Reviews are beginning to come in as well and they've been great thus far. The question is - have you gotten your copy yet? Visit the Eberus page on Smashwords or if you prefer Kindle, Amazon's Eberus page. We expect Eberus to join the IBooks store shortly.

Thank you so much to all those who took a chance on the book. It's good to see so many people get a connection with me. I hope they enjoy the collection.

Of course I know that many of you just don't believe in e-books are are waiting for the paperback version. I'm officially announcing the release of the paperback on September 28th. If you're looking for a great Halloween gift for friends or family, nothing could be better than the macabre collection of strange stories found in Eberus.

Now, Eberus isn't all that's coming soon. As you may have read, award winning voice talent  Joe Bevilacqua is doing the audio book version of Ancient Rising. Here is an exclusive preview - the first two chapters of Ancient Rising in mp3 format.

Please leave your comments on the work as thus far I'm thrilled with the results. We're shooting for completion some time in October.

While I'm still working with Bleacher Report on Tampa Bay sports, I've also been moonlighting with the best source for Tampa Bay Buccaneers news - the Pewter Report - as part of a bi-weekly blog called From the Cheap Seats.

I'm also still mapping out the the YA novel that will be forthcoming...more info to follow.

Finally, you might of noticed the free e-books Ancient Rising and Rise of the Ancients Annuna aren't so free any more. With the resurgance of Eberus, I decided not to give up on the E-book medium just yet. The books are still reasonably prices at just 99 cents.

Stay Thirsty for Spec Fic, my friends.

Lots of stuff to discuss!

Hey Folks! I know you haven't heard from me in quite awhile. Well, that's not to say I haven't been busy!

I have several announcements to make in today's blog.

First, I have a new slogan - lifted completely from those interesting Dos Aquis commericals (you know, the Most Interesting Man in The World).

Stay Thirsty for Spec Fiction, my friends!

I'll be ending all of my blogs and articles with that line.

Yes, I know, not earth shattering news there but I like it and I plan to live by it...my thirst for speculative fiction is at an all time high, how's yours?

The second major announcement that I need to make is that is the most exciting news. I've contracted with the award winning actor, radio producer, dramatist, humorist, and documentary film producer Joe Bevilacqua to produce Audio Book versions of Ancient Rising, Annuna, and Eberus. Joe is a fantastic talent who brings not only his dramatic voice but sound effects, music beds and brings the printed words all to life.

If you loved the old podiobook broadcasts of Ancient Rising - you haven't heard anything until you hear Joe Bev's version. The audiobook should be available for purchase on Audible and most locations where audio books are sold. We're working on finding a distributor for CD versions of the book.

Third, and this may come as disappointment for those of you who've read the short story in Nightmares From Eberus, but the Continuum Force novel is going to be bumped for a little while. Why? Because I've decided to join some of my fellow authors like Rick Riordan, JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyer and take the plunge into Young Adult fiction. It will be a science fiction YA novel that I've pretty much mapped out. This first novel (expected in 2011) will become a series consisting of a set of core characters. I have the name of the main character and the first book of the series, I'm just not ready to share it yet.  Stay tuned for more info.

Fourth, Nightmares from Eberus will be released in paperback at the end of September.  An official release date will be provided soon.

Fifth, we unveiled our Atlantis Theater at the humble estate. Visit the Atlantis Theater section of the website for a quick tour.

Finally, I've joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers magazine, the Pewter Report as a guest columnist.  Every couple of weeks, I'll be contributing to a column called "From the Cheap Seats". My first column appeared here.

That's about it folks! Exciting stuff going on here.

Stay Thirsty for Spec Fic, My Friends!

Free E-books Here!

I hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July.

For me, it was a sobering weekend. With the launch of Nightmares From Eberus, I was hoping to see an outpouring of fan support as I have for every other launch I've had. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

I was taught a valuable lesson and believe me, dear reader, I've learned it well.

I know now that you don't want e-book exclusives. Many of you are still "old school". Rather than having some electronic substitute, you want to have the book end your hands, feel the glossy cover, and smell the printed page.

I understand that now, as does my publishing company, DLT Atlantis Publishing.

So, I'm going to make two major announcements today.

First, Nightmares From Eberus will be released as a paperback in September. Stay tuned to this website for an exact date of release.

Second, I'm going to make all e-book editions of all of my books absolutely free (except on Amazon, which requires they at least be 99 cents if you're not a big time publisher).

Annuna and Ancient Rising are set to free immediately and as soon as the paperback is launched for Eberus, the price for the e-book version will also be set to Free.

Some will question this decision - why would anyone buy the book if it can be had for free?

For the same reason as why Eberus failed this weekend.  You want the paperback.

Once folks sample the work on their e-reader or iphone, they'll want the real thing in their hands. It's happened time and time again, those who sell their e-books for free (or nearly free), see a dramatic sales in their paper sales.

I hope this decision is pleasing to you and I also that the writing will attract new fans to my work.

Thanks for your continued support!
